"...Shall Not Be Infringed."

In a 5-4 ruling yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld the lower court ruling that a firearms ban in the District of Columbia was unconstitutional. From what I've heard, it was the first real challenge of the 2nd Amendment to the... [continue reading...]

Supreme Court Rules Death Penalty Is 'Totally Badass'...

One of the funniest sources for satire in this country has long been The Onion. I saw this video on MySpace today and I had a good laugh at this. I hope you do, too... ***LANGUAGE WARNING*** (If you are... [continue reading...]

As I've been many times before, I'm officially annoyed with President George W. Bush. Harriet Miers? HARRIET MIERS?!?! I'm beside myself. I'm bordering on apoplexy. I'm furious. I'm...well...I'm damned good and angry, that's what I am. [continue reading...]

Equal Justice Under Law...
September 14, 2005 3:50 PM
So, the hearings to confirm John Roberts as the 17th Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court have begun. I have to go on the record as having a problem with Roberts. I don't think he's earned the nomination. He's the "new guy," for cryin' out loud. There are other people who've been serving the Court notably and honorably for years and this strikes me as a slap in the face to them. Were I President---which would be horrible for all of you, but pretty cool for me---I'd select Antonin Scalia. I'm not the President, though, and the guy we've got says that Roberts is the right person for the job. [continue reading...]

Same Playbook, Same Old Broken Play...

It's been some time since we've gathered together here, and I must apologize. Since I've become part of the "Ownership Society" and bought my first home, it's taken just about all of my free time. Painting...spackling...unpacking. I've discovered that when you own a house, your "to do" list is never completed. Let me emphasize the word "never." In the month hiatus I've had from Ye Olde ConBlog, I've paid attention to the news and the talking heads and watched the Media Spin Machine do their job. It comes down to the fact that the more things change, the more things stay the same. [continue reading...]

Hey, Let's Build a Hotel...

David Souter is a liberal pinko commie a-hole who hates freedom, America and the Constitution. I mean, that's truly the only conclusion I can draw from the actions of Justice Souter and the four other justices who voted with him to vanquish the rights of property owners in America. The only thing that is perfectly evident to me is that Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Anthony Kennedy, David Souter and John Paul Stevens are anti-American gasbags who care nothing for the rights of the people. To listen to the media today, you'd think that Michael Newdow has been wronged by the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Perhaps you remember Mr. Newdow. I've talked about him here on these very pages, back in October. He's the man who is suing to have the phrase "under God" removed from the Pledge of Allegiance. Newdow is also involved in a protracted legal fight over the custody of his daughter, whom he says is having religion forced upon her by the state. [continue reading...]

One Nation Under ***, Indivisible...

On Tuesday, the United States Supreme Court decided to hear arguments on whether schoolchildren should be allowed to voluntarily recite the Pledge of Allegiance in their classrooms. At the center of the case is Michael Newdow, an Atheist. He filed suit against the Sacramento County, California, school district where his 9 year-old daughter attends classes. [continue reading...]
