Memorial Day 2008...
May 27, 2008 11:05 PM
Some of you might recall that four years ago, I wound up attending the smallest Memorial Day parade I've ever seen here in New Hampshire. It was no longer than five minutes in length and I thought it was one... [continue reading...]

The Gratitude Campaign...
December 13, 2007 1:34 PM
It only takes a second... (If you are unable to see the embedded YouTube video, please click here.) I don't know if you're anything like me, but I tend to get a little emotional when I thank our troops. In... [continue reading...]

A 15 Year Old's Tribute to our Troops...
May 28, 2007 9:05 PM
I received this in email and verified, as best I could, that the story was factual. It's a video tribute to the troops by a 15 year old girl named Elizabeth--or Lizzie, as she goes by--from Columbus, Ohio. She writes... [continue reading...]

Let's Say Thanks...
November 17, 2006 8:11 AM
Thanksgiving is right around the corner, folks. Next week, in fact. Hard to believe, isn't it? I will be traveling to the great state of Georgia to spend the holiday with my sister and her family. It is a trip... [continue reading...]

Veterans' Day...
November 11, 2006 8:45 AM
This is one of those days on the calendar that I feel has been given a name for a specific reason. I view Veterans' Day as an almost sacred day, in a sense. Why? Well, it's the day that we,... [continue reading...]

I've Got Mine. Where's Yours?...
February 15, 2005 12:55 AM
Clearly there's no advertising on my site. It's not where I want to venture at this time because ConBlog exists as a hobby and an outlet for me. However, if I did advertise or shill products, I clearly would tell everyone to get the Hero Band. [continue reading...]

How Was Your Day At Work?...
November 16, 2004 10:47 PM
You know, my day at work sucked today. Well, let me amend that: I've had a lot of sucky days at work lately, and I've not been too quiet about my discontent either. Don't get me wrong, I've had a lot of good days, but lately work has just been getting to me. It happens to all of us. We get annoyed and we have a horrible day. In fact, it's safe to say that we take it for granted. Why am I hesitant to complain anymore? Easy. I'm not in Fallujah. [continue reading...]

The Biggest Little Memorial Day Parade in the Country...
May 31, 2004 10:20 PM
I flew in from Nevada late last night and truth be told, it had slipped my mind that today was Memorial Day. I got up at the crack of ten o'clock, realized I had no coffee in the house, and proceeded to pile into the Official Vehicle of the ConBlog to procure some caffeine. Less than one tenth of a mile from my domicile, one of my town's police officers was in the middle of the street diverting traffic along a detour route. As I pulled up to him and rolled down the window, I asked him what the problem was. [continue reading...]

The Heart of a Cardinal...
April 28, 2004 9:54 PM
I belong to the school of thought that thinks that football surpassed baseball as America's national pastime a long time ago. I don't think there's any other sport with the drama, the strategy, or the pace of professional football. I follow the league and its players closely. One of the players I followed with casual interest, was Pat Tillman. [continue reading...]

Honoring Those Who Serve...
November 11, 2003 8:00 PM
Three years ago today, I stood in the shadow of the Washington Monument to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of the National World War II Memorial. Actor Tom Hanks read from the diary of a war reporter, and former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole paid tribute to his fellow veterans who literally helped save the world. [continue reading...]
