Katie, Bar the Door...
September 5, 2006 8:25 PM
I sat down tonight to watch the debut of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. Well, that's not an entirely true statement, I guess. I sat down to draft my fantasy football team online and, in the process of... [continue reading...]

Earth Calling Mary Mapes...
June 6, 2006 8:25 PM
You remember Mary Mapes, no doubt. She was the producer at CBS who was fired in the wake of the Bush National Guard Memo fiasco. While Rather was the public face of the story, it's probably safe to say that... [continue reading...]

Engberg, Back For More...
November 18, 2005 4:33 PM
If you missed what turned out to be the first installment of my correspondence with former CBS News reporter, Eric Engberg, you really should read this first: War of Words with Eric Engberg. So, I check my email before going to bed last night, and I was treated to the following love letter from someone claiming to be Engberg: [continue reading...]

War of Words with Eric Engberg...
November 11, 2005 4:23 PM
You might remember Eric Engberg. Perhaps it's from his reporting on the CBS Evening News over the years. Maybe it's from some of his columns on the CBS News web site. One of those columns was highlighted here on ConBlog back in November of last year. I went after Mr. Engberg for his column titled, "Blogging as Typing, Not Journalism." In his missive, he criticized blogging as a fad, equating it to the CB radio. Well, Engberg is back again and, would you believe, on a blog?? [continue reading...]

Myopic Zeal: Say Good Night, Dan...
March 10, 2005 2:03 PM
I was at a bar with a good friend of mine enjoying some potent potables as I watched Dan Rather's final broadcast as anchor of the CBS Evening News. As I watched the broadcast drinking my beer, it seemed to me that the only thing missing from each story on Wednesday's newscast was the following phrase: "...which is the fault of the Bush Administration." [continue reading...]

They Mock What They Do Not Understand...
November 8, 2004 3:10 PM
Bernard Goldberg was right. The main-stream media types just don't get it. Take Goldberg's former colleague at CBS News, Eric Engberg, for example. Engberg retired from CBS in 2002 but continues to write opinion pieces for the CBS News website. Today, he decided to weigh in on election coverage by bloggers and he was less than kind. [continue reading...]

I Did Not...Have...Sexual Relations With That Reporter...Dan Rather...
June 21, 2004 11:00 PM
So, I watched the interview of former President Bill Clinton last night on 60 Minutes. Perhaps I should say that I caught the "mutual love-fest that was passed off as an interview" by CBS Newsman Dan Rather. I tried to avoid it, I really did. It was kind of like a train wreck to me. I knew what that lying philanderer was going to say. I mean, we all did--and not just because CBS leaked just enough details to pique the interest of viewers. [continue reading...]

People--People Who Smear People...
November 6, 2003 7:45 PM
For someone who supposedly has nothing to do with a new television mini-series on "The Reagans," Barbra Streisand certainly has a lot to say about it. [continue reading...]
