My, my, my...where does the time go? I've been very neglectful of my blog, to the point where I really do feel guilty about it.
The last two months have been very eventful...
I found a job after being laid off for eight months!
I turned 40!
I got married in Las Vegas by Elvis!
Conservative Blogger turned six years old!
I'm happy to be working again. Eight months of joblessness is a long, long time to be at home. Sure, looking for work was a full-time job by itself, but a layoff that long really starts to mess with your head. You start to wonder if you're ever going to work again. I really feel for the people who have been out of work longer than I was--it really is a difficult thing to experience. The job market is a tough place to be right now and I truly hope things get better soon.
It's taking me a while to find a rhythm with my new job. I spend an hour travelling each way, so with 10 less hours I find that my evenings fly by. I'm still working on finding time for everything--including blogging--and that's proving to be a bit of a challenge.
After that, I turned forty years old! I was actually very excited to celebrate that milestone. My thirties were great and I expect that my forties will be even better. This next decade will be even better than the last because I won't let it be any other way.
On October 17, I had the happiest day of my adult life when I married my dearest love in Las Vegas, Nevada. We were so blessed to be surrounded by friends and family who had made the trip out with us and it really was an amazing day. I am the most fortunate man on the planet to have the people I have around me and the love I have in my life and I try to be mindful of that every single day.
Speaking of happy days, my little ol' blog turned six years old this past Columbus Day! It's amazing to me to think that it's been going this long, even with my extended absence. I thank everyone who has visited the site and helped keep it (and me) going. When I started this site, I figured I'd be the only one ever to read it.
I've never tried or even wanted to be the biggest blog on the block. My goal was always to let Conservative Blogger be the online extension my voice and and of my First Amendment rights. I try to be fair and I try to be consistent and I genuinely appreciate the constructive feedback I've received over the years--even when it's been negative.
So that's the last two months in a nutshell. It's been a great time and it's good to be back in front of the keyboard...
