"Hope and Change" Goes For "More of the Same..."

So, there I was, sleeping comfortably in my bed at 3:17 a.m. when my cell phone told me I had a new text message.

A text message from Barack Obama telling me whom he had finally picked to be his running mate.  Apparently, he felt the need to tell me in the middle of the night that he had picked Delaware Senator Joe Biden as his pick for Vice President.

Honestly, Barry...couldn't it have waited until 7:00 a.m. or something?  3:17...for Joe Biden?  It tells me, first, that Barack Obama's people don't understand the news cycle for one.  Secondly, it also says that they couldn't care less about waking people up--Pope Barack has a message for the sheep and they'll get it when he wants them to.

The text message needed to go out at 3:17 p.m.--twelve hours earlier to get the best possible impact from this announcement.  Fail.

Pope Barack I has been running his campaign for "Hope" and "Change" and has just managed to pick the very antithesis of that platform.  Instead of picking someone to reflect his supposed ideals, he's managed to select one of the biggest cogs in the Washington D.C. political machine.

After 36 years in the Senate, Joe Biden is "more of the same" and hardly the groundbreaking pick that people would have expected or wanted from The Obamessiah.

Forget all of Joe Biden's gaffes and questionable comments.  The fact is that he himself didn't think that Barack Obama was ready to be President and, now, Barack Obama has just proven that very fact with his selection of Biden--someone infinitely more qualified and well-versed on both domestic and foreign policy.

In fact, the two clips I was just thinking of to illustrate this have just been released by the McCain campaign in a new commercial:

(If you are unable to see the new McCain campaign ad embedded above, please click here.)

The only thing I'm surprised that is that Barack Obama would be this transparent.  His mantra of hope and change is as substantive as The Emperor's New Clothes.

So, what does this do for McCain?  Well, this says to me that McCain's Veep pick--in order to pick up a sustainable bounce and energize the "Big-C" Conservatives--should be Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney or Mark Sanford, the current Governor of South Carolina.  Both gentlemen are more conservative than John McCain and either of those two could finally bring me into the McCain fold.

We'll see what Johnny Mac does after the Democrat National Convention...
