So, as you'll recall, last night there were all kinds of problems with the wireless internet in the Press Center. The Wi-Fi had been up all day and I had no issues in the two hours I was online before the debate.
Then, all of a sudden, the network ground to a halt. I went from 54 Mbps right down to 1 Mbps and then no connectivity at all. The IT guys at the Carr Gymnasium were rushing around trying to get every one back online, but the problem continued on. They'd power cycle the router and then, just as fast as you could get connected, you'd be back to not being able to get anywhere.
After a while, they told a few of us that there were "hackers" bombarding the network and purposely trying to bring it down. The only people using this network were the members of the media--both mainstream and bloggers like me.
I did some digging and "the word on the street" was that it was some Ron Paul supporters. In fact, I heard this from a number of people and none of them were members of the media.
Why am I not surprised?
The "Ron Paul Revolution" is apparently a Denial-of-Service Attack.
