From the AP, via Breitbart.com:
"The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to transfer to regional states its valuable experience and achievements in the field of peaceful nuclear technology as a clean energy source and as a replacement for oil," the state quoted Ahmadinejad as telling Mohammed Zefollah Shirar, a top adviser to Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
Greaaaaaaaaaat. Just what we need. The entire Middle East having nuclear technology.
Such a technological transfer would be legal as long as it is between signatory states to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, and as long as the International Atomic Energy Agency that monitors the treaty was informed of the transfer.
Right. And Iran has cared about what's "legal" in the eyes of the world since...?
No good can come of this.
Let's stipulate for the purpose of discussion that Iran is being honest and truly wants to develop atomic energy and not weapons. I mean, I don't believe that's true, but let's suppose it is for the moment.
Can the same be said of half the countries in that region? Probably not--and the only thing keeping Iran from sharing nuclear technology with them is a rule. A rule which, by the way, is totally and thoroughly unenforceable until after the fact.
I say again, no good can come of this.
