MSNBC.com | Politics | Dem introduces bill to impeach Bush
That word is "symbolic."
Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) introduced a bill today calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush. It is a bill that has absolutely no chance of passing. Much like McKinney's tenure in Congress, it is a largely symbolic measure. Put simply, folks, this bill will never see the light of day as far as voting is concerned.
Yet we shouldn't be surprised that Congresswoman McKinney did something like this. It will be the last thing she ever does in Washington, but it sounds like it might also have been the first thing. Cynthia McKinney wasn't exactly a legislative powerhouse, if you know what I mean.
She has hosted numerous panels on Sept. 11, 2001, conspiracy theories and suggested that Bush had knowledge of the terror attacks beforehand but kept quiet about it to allow friends to profit from the aftermath. She introduced legislation to establish a permanent collection of rapper Tupac Shakur's recordings at the National Archives and asking for a federal investigation into his 1996 killing.
Yeah, nothing says "I'm a serious legislator" like conspiracy theories and trying to put Tupac rap albums in the National Archive. This still isn't what McKinney is best known for, however.
Cynthia McKinney is the same Congresswoman who struck a Capitol police officer earlier this year when he didn't recognize her as a member of Congress. You know...as she was breezing by the security checkpoint?
Cynthia McKinney is the same Congresswoman who used taxpayer money to fly singer Isaac Hayes to Atlanta and pay for his hotel accomodations, apologizing later for her "error."
Cynthia McKinney is the same Congresswoman who lost her re-election bid in this year's Mid-Term Elections and is on her way out the door. THANK GOD. Her bill on impeachment will have roughly the same shelf life as the remainder of her Congressional career...
Not long.
McKinney is one of those people that the House of Representatives is better without, quite frankly. I'd like to say she's a jackass, but then, I wouldn't want to offend perfectly good jackasses across the globe. If you don't believe me, there are plenty of quotes of hers that will absolutely make your jaw drop.
Adios, Cindy. I hope you enjoy private life.
