As some of you will recall, I spent this past weekend in a production of the musical "Annie." Well, the show went great and we had a good run all weekend...with the exception of one tiny detail...
That wasn't in the script! - Concord Monitor Online
I can honestly say that, in all my time doing shows, I have never been upstaged by dog crap!
There I was in the Hooverville scene. I crossed downstage left to sit on a box and give a line. The line in question was this:
"Hey everybody...listen to this: Former President Herbert Hoover said today in an interview, 'Though I was in no way personally responsible for the 1929 stock market crash, I have nothing but the deepest sympathy for the millions who are now ragged, hungry and homeless.'"
In the middle of the line, I noticed the audience laughing a bit. I kept going with the line and noticed that the laughter was only growing stronger. I couldn't see what was going on because I was seated and surrounded by a semi-circle of people.
Then I stood up and saw what "Sandy" had left behind. Suffice it to say that I'll have a story that I can tell people about for years and still have a good laugh.
