My Way News | Bush Taps Snow As New Press Secretary | April 26, 2006
Tony Snow is an outstanding pick for White House Press Secretary. I've got absolutely nothing against Scott McLellan or his predecessor Ari Fleischer, but this is the guy we should have had since day number one. The Bush Administration has been criticized for not being as friendly with the media, and what better way to put a new face on an adminstration than to use one of their own as the face?
I've read and listened to Tony Snow in the past, even going back to when he was a frequent substitute for Rush Limbaugh, back in the day. He's a very bright guy who will handle the jackals in the Press Room with ease. Personally, I can't wait to see him give the smackdown to NBC's David Gregory. That's going to be truly fun to watch.
It's not like Snow has been a water boy for the Bush Adminstration, either. Anyone who knows his work, knows that he's had more than his share of disagreements with President Bush...something that the Commander In Chief mentioned when introducing his new Press Secretary:
Bush shrugged off the criticism. "He's not afraid to express his own opinions," he said of his new spokesman. "For those of you who've read his columns and listened to his radio show, he sometimes has disagreed with me. I asked him about those comments, and he said, 'You should have heard what I said about the other guy.'"
The only question now is how long will the honeymoon last? My guess is "not long," but I have a feeling that it will be over for the reporters first.
