Conservative Blogger: Emergence...
Where to begin?
Many of you have noticed my more than conspicuous absence from the blog over the last month. Honestly, I just haven't had the motivation to blog. It's had nothing to do with politics, current events or boredom.
It's had everything to do with family.
My youngest sister and best friend had emergency surgery to treat a perforated colon, the result of diverticulitis. In order to treat the condition, an emergency temporary colostomy would have to be performed. Neddie came through her operation with flying colors and, three weeks later, I had the privilege of driving her home.
I've gained a lot of perspective over the past several weeks. While I still care about politics, I've come to the realization that none of this--candidates, spin, parties, he said/she said--none of it truly matters in the grand scheme of things.
What matters is family and, for fear of sounding trite, it's easy to take for granted the time you have with each other. My sister has been my best friend her whole life and I would do anything for her.
Neddie continues to make good incremental progress. I'm slowly coming back up to speed and will be blogging regularly and working on getting the podcast off the ground.
I'm back, and maybe with a slightly different perspective on the world. I don't think that's a bad thing.
