Conservative Blogger: Ron Paul Told He Has "No Chance..."
Now, I don't normally agree with George Stephanopolous of ABC News (and formerly of the Clinton Administration). However, in this very brief snippet from "This Week," Stephanopolous is very blunt with Republican Presidential hopeful, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas.
The thing is, Ron Paul doesn't have a chance and George Stephanopolous is right on the money.
Forget what the Paulites tell you, friends. There is no Ron Paul Fever. It's an exaggerated claim meant to try and generate "buzz" about a candidate that will never break out of the second tier.
Before all the Paul supporters reading this see fit to email me en masse and try to change my mind, know that I've heard from plenty of you already and you all say the exact same things. You must all read the same website because the emails are eerily similar.
I like Ron Paul. I have no problem with him at all. I think he's an intelligent and honorable man who loves his country and honestly wants to serve as President. I have absolutely nothing against him, but...well...it's just not going to happen for him. Yes, I 'm supporting Mitt Romney, but that has nothing to do with why Ron Paul will never be elected President.
Ever.
The biggest liability to Ron Paul's campaign for the Presidency is also his greatest asset at the moment: his internet grass roots supporters. I say they're a liability because there are a lot of people who are very unhappy with them right now.
Bloggers are unhappy with the Paulites because of the comment and poll spam.
Talk radio is unhappy with the Paulites because of their campaigns to call radio shows.
The Media Spin Machine is unhappy with the Paulites because they say the MSM is shutting Paul out of the coverage.
Instead of helping propel their guy over the top, the grass roots folks are keeping him mired in the middle.
Sure, Ron Paul now has over $2 million in the bank to spend--more than John McCain. Good for him. The top tier candidates have millions more and, in today's era of retail politics, that's not enough to compete.
So, kudos to George for saying what everyone else who follows politics is thinking. When I get a few more messages from Ron Paul supporters, I'll go into "Why Ron Paul Will Never Win."
And....cue the hate mail.
