Conservative Blogger: Shame On Barbara Boxer...

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) owes Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice an apology.

From the New York Post:

Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, an appalling scold from California, wasted no time yesterday in dragging the debate over Iraq about as low as it can go - attacking Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for being a childless woman.
Boxer was wholly in character for her party - New York's own two Democratic senators, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Rodham Clinton, were predictably opportunistic - but the Golden State lawmaker earned special attention for the tasteless jibes she aimed at Rice.
Rice appeared before the Senate in defense of President Bush's tactical change in Iraq, and quickly encountered Boxer.
"Who pays the price? I'm not going to pay a personal price," Boxer said. "My kids are too old, and my grandchild is too young."
Then, to Rice: "You're not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with an immediate family."

Boxer's comments are not only mindless and vapid, they are absolutely over the line. For her to suggest that Dr. Rice has no stake in any of this simply because she has not pro-created is reprehensible. It shows an all new low for Boxer and certainly does nothing to help foster that "bi-partisanship" the Democrats have been whining that Washington needs.

I don't often read the New York Post, but they are 100% right. Boxer needs to apologize and she needs to do it today. I'll go one step further and say that she needs to do it publicly and not through issuing a statement.

As for Secretary of State Rice, kudos to her for the way she has responded to this. She's proven herself to be a woman of intelligence and grace yet again and Barbara Boxer isn't even in her class.
